The Hindu Student Council at Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA, held a conference in May 2021 to discuss the pervasive phenomenon of Hindudvesha (Systemic Hinduphobia) in order to understand it and its consequences for Hindu Americans.
Dr. Meenakshi Jain and Jeffery D. Long, who are religious studies scholars focusing on the study of religions and philosophies of India, participated in the conference. In the following video of the conference, Prof. Long discusses various aspects of Hindophobia – what it is, its underlying structure as well as its history. Dr. Meenakshi Jain talks about the colonization of Hindus, including the colonization of their belief systems and culture. She elaborates specifically on the mass-scale destruction of the Hindu knowledge systems during India’s 1000 years of colonization and occupation by Islamic invaders and British colonizers.
